Children's Ministry Certificate

This certificate prepares students to serve the church by specializing in the care and teaching of children from birth to sixth grade.  Potential service areas for the church include departmental leadership positions involving children or working in a parachurch ministry devoted to the Christian education of children.

Children’s Ministry Certificate Goals

In addition to the goals of the Certificate of Biblical Knowledge, students completing a Children’s Ministry certificate will be able to:

  1. Examine the need for education in the church, recognize the role of a children’s minister, and describe their own involvement in that role.
  2. Recognize the fundamental components of a lesson and develop their own Biblical lessons for a church audience.
  3. Explain the age-specific educational and psychological needs that affect teaching within a local church.
  4. Design a children’s educational program to recruit and train volunteers for the educational ministry of a local church.
  5. Experience the educational ministry of the church in light of the principles and methods of effective children’s ministry.
