Christian Counseling
OBJECTIVES:
The student completing a Christian Counseling emphasis will:
- Know the history and development of counseling.
- Be able to integrate counseling theory and practice with Biblical theology.
- Have peer counseling experience in the classroom setting.
- Have completed a field education program under the supervision of a qualified professional.
- Possess an adequate knowledge of the basics of the science of psychology.
- Possess the basic skills and confidence to do counseling.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to the standard requirements for the B.S. or B.A. degree, the student will complete the following 24 emphasis hours:
3 - Introduction to Counseling
2 - Integration Seminar
2 - Tests and Measurements
2 - Personality Types
1 - Legal Issues in Counseling
3 - Psychopathology
8 - Counseling Electives (Choose from Crisis Counseling, Marriage & Family, Youth & Family Counseling, Ministerial Counseling, Pre-marital & Marital Programs, Marriage Counseling, or Cross-Cultural Counseling)
1 - Ministry Field Orientation
2 - Field Education Experience
