Youth & Family Ministry
PCM 336 Youth and Family Counseling (2 hours)
This course is designed to assist the student in his dealings with young people and their parents. Principles of counseling will be discussed and applied to young people. Stages of development and common problems will also be examined. Prerequisite: PCM230 (Odd Spring)
PCM 340 Foundations of Youth and Family Ministry (3 hours)
This course provides an overview of the role and work of the youth and family minister with regard to developing a total youth program and training youth workers. Attention will be paid to philosophy of youth and family ministry as well as to strategic planning and implementation. Issues of personal character and integrity will be addressed. (Every Fall)
PCM 342 Youth Ministry Methods (2 hours)
Special topics of importance for youth ministry will be addressed. Guest speakers will be utilized extensively in dealing with a wide range of practical areas such as recruiting sponsors, VBS, Christian service camps, special programs and trips, etc. (Every Spring)
PCM 375 Discipleship (2 hours)
A laboratory course emphasizing the importance and outlining the process of spiritual formation in the Christian life. Spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Bible study, meditation, Scripture memorization, and fasting are studied. The steps for making disciples are carefully analyzed. A weekly lecture is supplemented with small group experiences. A spiritual diary is kept. (Every Spring)
PED 382 Christian Education Administration (2 hours)
A course designed to acquaint students with the basic principles and skills of effective educational leadership and to give specific guidance on a variety of education duties. (Every Fall)
