Saints open 2007 with alumni on Aug. 24

MOBERLY, Mo. - The 2007 soccer schedule was recently announced, featuring 16 regular season games, the MCCC and Region tournaments, as well as an exhibition match with the alumni to open the season.

The alumni scrimmage takes place on Aug. 24 at 3 p.m. to kick off the season. Then after a string of nine road games to start the season, six of the team's last seven regular season games will be at home.

The Saints will also be new members of the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) in which they will share a dual affiliation with the NCCAA. The ACCA plans to host a postseason national soccer tournament for the first time in November at Ozark Christian College.

Head coach Josh Sanchez is asking all CCCB alumni who are interested in participating in this year's scrimmage to RSVP by Aug. 1. Last season, the alumni held on for a 4-3 win in the exhibition game after the the 2005 inaugural event saw the teams play to a 2-2 tie.

Alumni are asked to bring a donation of $10 that will go toward various expenses throughout the season. Participants will also receive an alumni game T-shirt and a meal.

Tryouts for the 2007 CCCB soccer team will begin Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. Students trying out for soccer will be allowed to move into the dorms on that day.
