Saints claim ACCA title, prepare for Florida

MOBERLY, Mo. — Central Christian College of the Bible won a pair of games at the ACCA National Tournament to bring home the title on Saturday in Joplin.

The Saints (19-5) received a first round bye, then defeated Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College 2-1 on Friday. Seeded No. 1 in the six-team field, CCCB then shut out Canadian Mennonite University 4-0 in the championship game. Saints junior midfielder Jammie Lowe was named MVP of the tournament.

The Saints hold dual afffiliation with both the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) and the National Christian College Athletics Assocation (NCCAA). The ACCA tourney will serve as a tune-up for the CCCB men, who head to Kissimmee, Fla., on Wednesday to begin play in the NCCAA Division II National Championships.

The Saints open play at the NCCAA tournament as the No. 7 seed, taking on No. 2 seed Southeastern University (Fla.) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The second round of the championships takes place on Saturday, while the finals will be played on Monday, Nov. 17.

The College will host a send-off celebration for the Saints on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Ferneau Center of Pelfrey Hall. Everyone is invited to attend.
