The Lady Saints moved up to #5 in the nation in the recently released NCCAA National rankings. The ladies have won their past four games and are excited about finishing the season strong.
This past weekend, three Lady Saints were honored for their outstanding contribution to the CCCB athletic program and their school. Caley Palmer, Loree Vickio and Erica Norris will all be graduating in May. Caley Palmer is a Christian Counseling major from Novelty, Missouri and played on Central's basketball team for three years. Erica Norris is a general ministry major from Lincoln, Nebraska and played for 3 1/2 years. Loree Vickio of Lewes, Delaware is a general ministry major who played all four years - having never played basketball ever before. The ladies were presented with mini basketballs signed by their team, flowers, their old jerseys from last year and letters from their coach and teammates.
The win over Ozark makes the fourth straight win and the 8th conference win for the Lady Saints. Kelsi Mueller, freshman from Eldon, Missouri continued to light up the scoreboard with 24 points, alongside fellow Eldonian, Mazie Dowdy, who scored 12 and had 7 boards. Taylor Terry continues to control the offense for Central at point guard, pulling off 5 assists, 3 steals, and dropping 8 points. Barbie Askew lit up the paint with 11 points, shooting 5-7 from the field and pulling in 5 rebounds. Jessica Hardwick, from Jamestown, Missouri saw some court time, which gave her the opportunity to hit the stat book with 4 rebounds and 2 points.
Ozark shot 17-55 from the field and netted 7 of 15 free throws. Bayli Gibson contributed 20 and teammate Brianna Euken scored 11. The Saints shot 36-72, and pulled in 42 total boards to OCC's 26. The Saints led at the half 39-18, then finished the game off with a score of 80 - 42. Central's overall record at this point is 12-8, the best ever in school history. The ladies have six more games on their schedule before NCCAA Regionals at the end of February.
The next home game for the Lady Saints is Monday, Feb. 6th at 4:00 pm against the Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University.
