MOBERLY, Mo. – Central Christian College of the Bible will host the 2014 Midwest Christian College Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments, Thursday, Feb. 20 through Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Ferneau Center of Pelfrey Hall.
The tournament features a total of 16 games between seven men's and six women's teams, all members of the Midwest Christian College Conference, from three states (Kansas, Iowa and Missouri). The tournament tips off at 12 p.m. on Thursday and concludes with the men's championship at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
CCCB hosts the tournament for the first time since 1998. The men, seeded fourth after finishing 3-5 in league play, take on fifth seeded Saint Louis Christian College at 8 p.m. on Thursday. The women are seeded second after posting a 5-1 record in the league and have a first round bye, pitting them against the winner of the 3/6 matchup on Friday at 6 p.m.
Manhattan Christian College's men and women both earned the top seeds in the tournament after each team went undefeated in conference play at 9-0. Faith Baptist Bible earned the No. 2 seed on the men's side, followed by Ozark Christian, CCCB, Saint Louis Christian, Barclay College and Calvary Bible. On the women's side, Ozark Christian earned the No. 3 seed, followed by Barclay, Faith Baptist Bible and Calvary Bible.
The tournament will be played on CCCB's newly installed hardwood floor. Since Pelfrey Hall opened in 1980, the playing surface consisted of a concrete foundation covered by carpet for 18 years and vinyl for the last 16. The College purchased the new surface 12 days ago, and was able to install the floor in time for the regular season finale on Saturday.
The CCCB athletic department will provide updated stats online and live streaming for all 16 contests. For a full list of pairings and all other tournament information, visit the 2014 Midwest Christian College Conference Basketball Tournament section on CCCBSaints.com.
