January 5, 2007
MOBERLY, Mo. - For 50 years now, Central Christian College of the Bible has the reputation as a classic Bible college committed to the conservative interpretation of, and adherence to, the Word of God.
The College continues her mission: to develop leaders for the church by providing a Bible-centered education, promoting deeper spiritual lives, preparing dynamic communicators of the Gospel, and producing disciple-makers for the nations.
Plan now to come and celebrate our 50th anniversary on Friday and Saturday, May 18-19, 2007. An alumni picnic hosts the 2007 graduating class on Friday at noon; an alumni musical band, "Three Days Under," reunites for an afternoon concert;
the 2007 Commencement services, held at the Moberly Area Community College Activity Center, will be the highlight of the day for many; and a graduation reception will be held on the first floor of the Activity Center immediately following commencement.
Saturday's activities begin with a continental breakfast and an Alumni Variety Show at 8:15 a.m. Alumni and current students wanting to participate should contact Sherry Wallis at the college. Then an Alumni Association organizational meeting takes place,
followed by an Alumni Choir rehearsal for those who were in CCCB's Chorale as a student. Joy Butler and her son, Caleb, are heading up this project of providing two songs for the banquet program.
The 50th Anniversary and Homecoming Banquet will be held in the Ferneau Center of Pelfrey Hall at 11:45 a.m. There will be a praise and worship time, special music by the Alumni Choir, special recognition for members of the classes of 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, and 2007,
and a special anniversary message by Tom Ellsworth, senior minister of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, Indiana. Special honors for Lloyd and Irene Pelfrey, and Gareth and Kathleen Reese for their fifty years of service to Christ at the college are also planned.
Saturday afternoon provides an 18-hole golf tournament at Timberlake golf course, as well as a carnival on the college front lawn for families-consisting of inflatibles, games, prizes, a dunk tank, and several booths. Of course there will be lots of free time to visit with former
classmates and current and former professors. For more details about these exciting events planned to honor Christ and celebrate Central's 50th anniversary, please contact Sherry Wallis at publicrelations@cccb.edu or call 888-263-3900 x147.
