CCCB announces Dr. Ron Oakes as new President

MOBERLY, Mo. - The Board of Directors voted unanimously March 17, 2006 to announce Dr. Ron Oakes as the next president of Central Christian College of the Bible. Dr. Oakes, who is currently serving as Professor of Bible and Ministry at Central, will officially assume his new position July 1, 2006.

Dr. Oakes was introduced as the new president at the College's chapel service today. During that service, he told the student body, "I believe we have had a positive past, but we can have a fantastic future."

Dr. Oakes also expressed his desire that all graduates from Central become known as true believers and real leaders. For the remainder of this school year, he will be working in a transitional capacity with the administration and Lloyd Pelfrey, the College's interim president and chancellor.

The selection of Dr. Oakes came after a nationwide search and interviews with a search committee, administration, faculty, and board of directors.

A 1974 graduate of Kentucky Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education, Dr. Oakes also earned a Master of Arts in Theology and a Master of Religious Education from Cincinnati Christian University. In 1993, he completed a Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership from Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Oakes' ministry experience includes work in local churches, para-church organizations, and Bible colleges. He has been a preaching minister, youth minister, and Christian education director at churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois.

Dr. Oakes has served as a director with Christ in Youth and the Midwest Youth Workers Connection. Most of his career has been in higher education for 22 years at St. Louis Christian College as Professor and Academic Dean. Additionally, he has taught short-term courses at Kentucky Christian University, Boise Bible College, Dallas Christian College, Roanoke Bible College, and Eastern Christian College. He has also published articles with Standard Publishing and contributed to a book from College Press.

Ron and his wife Patti have two daughters, Alesha and Adrienne, and three grandchildren.
