Another record graduating class at commencement 2006

MOBERLY, Mo. - A record 88 students will walk the stage when Central Christian College of the Bible celebrates its 49th commencement on Friday, May 19.

The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Moberly Area Community College Activity Center. A reception will follow at Pelfrey Hall on the CCCB campus at approximately 8 p.m.

The commencement speaker will be Professor Richard Koffarnus. It will be the first time CCCB has held its commencement off campus since Pelfrey Hall was constructed in 1980.

"The move to the Activity Center was necessitated by the number of graduates being able to welcome their guests, as well as the student body being able to attend," CCCB Vice President of Academics Dr. David Fincher said.

The class of 2006 consists of 70 bachelor's degrees and 18 two-year associate's degrees. This year's class has 41 more graduates than the 47 in the class of 2005, which was also a record year.

"The sharp increase in graduates follows a consistent growth of the college's enrollment in each of the past six years," Dr. Fincher said. "It is rewarding to see so many students accomplish their goals and receive the honors that they've earned."

The seating capacity of the MACC Activity Center (approximately 3,500) will allow the public to attend without reservations. There will be a number of seats available on the floor and various sections of the facility.

Fincher said the college is grateful for MACC's use of their facility.

"We appreciate MACC's willingness to offer their facilities in exchange for the usage of our facilities at other times of the year," Dr. Fincher said.

To get to the Activity Center from CCCB, take Hwy. 63 North to the Rollins/EE exit. Head west on Rollins until the road runs directly into the MACC campus. The Activity Center is located on the back side of the campus.
